Shane Penhale Interview


First off, who are you and what genre of music do you make?

My name is Shane Penhale and I play Indie Pop/Rock music.

If you had to describe your music with a color, what would it be?

Dark Blue.

What’s the biggest struggle you have when it comes to creating?

I have a hard time committing when I’m creating. Whether it’s a lyric, melody or anything musically, I’m always in search for something better.

If you could play any show in the world, what would it be?

Any arena show would be an amazing experience.

What do you consider your biggest musical success?

Having people connect with my music and helping them get through whatever it is they’re dealing with.

What inspired you to start making music?

I got inspired by learning the process of writing and creating music.

If you could hear any person living or dead sing to you, who would it be?

Taylor Swift.

Who, aside from any band or musician, is your biggest influence?

Mike Ehrmantraut

What’s your favorite book?

“The Indie Band Survival Guide” aided me well.

What do you like to do other than music?

I just recently bought a camera and I have been learning about photography. I find going out and taking pictures of the world relaxing.

Who is your favorite musical artist?

The Maine has been my favorite band since longer than I can remember.

What’s one piece of advice you have for young musicians?

Learn how to accept criticism and use it as a tool to help you progress. Being self-critical is also important. Learn from your mistakes, work hard and stick with it.
